The Department of Microbiology at Virendra Kumar Sakhlecha Government Medical College is at the forefront of teaching the principle and art of Clinical Microbiology to the Undergraduate, students. The Laboratories in the Department are well equipped with latest equipment. 
Along with the conventional diagnostic techniques, rapid tests and state of the art automated equipment with latest technologies have been incorporated into the laboratory services. Apart from diagnostics, academic and research work forms a major component of the departmental activities.

· To develop quality infrastructure and trained manpower so as to enable the students of medical microbiology to appreciate the etiology, pathogenesis and laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases.
