WELCOME TO THE DEPARTMENT OF ORTHOPAEDICS



INTRODUCTION

The Department of Orthopaedics was established at Virendra Kumar Sakhlecha Government Medical College, Neemuch (M.P.) on 5th June 2024, when the OPD services was started at the institute. Dr.Puneet Kumar Acharya has a pioneer role in establishment of the department of orthopaedics, who is first faculty of institute and is the Head of department. He got trained at various National and International level Prestigeous Organisations including All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS), AO Trauma, AO Recon, AO Spine etc.At Present there is one unit within the department.The outpatient clinics are being conducted from Monday to Saturday.We offer regular out-patient and in-patient services to patients suffering from various musculoskeletal conditions.The department has a daily footfall of around 100-120 out-patients out of which about 15-20 patients are being admitted as per the requirement. The Institute has a dedicated Trauma Centre Building at the attached campus of Smt.Vijyaraje Scindia Government District Hospital Neemuch.
Clinical services include: The department works in close collaboration with the department of Emergency/Casualty, providing 24 x 7 services for trauma patients. A multi-disciplinary approach is adopted for the management of polytrauma patients.Dedicated patient care, clinical teaching and research are our core areas of priority.
Academics:
The department conducts classes and clinics for MBBS students as per the academic schedule.We have a rigorous academic programme which includes surgical audits, hands-on patient care, seminars, journal club, case presentation and weekly grand rounds.The department conducts monthly academic meet in which case-based discussions are held by faculty and resident doctors.
Vision:
1. To evolve into a tertiary care unit providing state of the art care in the field of orthopaedic trauma and other subspecialities of orthopaedic surgery to the entire Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh.
2. To become a centre of excellence for research with a rigorous academic programme for both undergraduates, postgraduate students as well as senior residents
Mission:
1. To provide evidence-based holistic patient care in the domain of Traumatology and other Orthopaedic surgery.
2. To Treat complex intra-articular fractures of large and small joints, and pelvi-acetabular fractures.
3. Paediatric Orthopaedics -To provide services for complex paediatric conditions which include congenital and developmental disorders, fractures, growth modulation, limb lengthening and For CTEV patients to establishing a special Clubfoot clinic in collaboration with CURE International (CIIT).
4. Hand Surgery - To provide services for complex hand problems which include fractures, congenital deformities, wrist conditions, tumour, tendon injuries plastic reconstruction of hand, flap cover.
5. Arthroplasty - To provide services for total knee, hip, shoulder, elow replacement surgery.
6. Spine surgery -To provide services for spine trauma, degenerative spine conditions ,Pott's spine and disc disease.
7. Sports Injury - To provide wide range of services to help athletes which include commonly performed knee and shoulder arthroscopic procedures (keyhole surgery) include ACL reconstruction, PCL reconstruction, multi-ligament reconstruction of the knee, rotator cuff repair.
8. To establish a robust Postgraduate training programme.
9. To conduct and organize training modules of Basic and Advanced Trauma Life Support for our faculty, residents, nursing and paramedical staff.
10. To initiate state-of-the-art cancer care through close collaboration with allied specialities such as Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Radiology, Pathology and Surgical Oncology and provide appropriate support to institutional Tumour Board.
11. To harness the latest advancements in technology and pursue world-class medical research.
